Nathan Carpenter, a Revolutionary War veteran who was wounded at Bunker Hill, was the first property owner just north of this location. Another early settler, Thomas Cellar, donated the 3 acres on which the cemetery and church now stand. Cellar and other early settlers are buried here. Maybe you can find their tombstones. Another stone of a young man named John Everett reminds us of own mortality with the inscription:
Stop young friend as you pass by.
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you must be.
Prepare for death and follow me.
Please remember that the cemetery is closed from dusk to dawn. Do not disturb any of the stones as the cache is not located around any gravestones. Also, DO NOT DIG around the foundation of the old church building as the cache is not located in the foundation.
