in our disclaimer.
The cache is a small, taped, magnetic lock and lock. Although in the Park, the cache is best accessed (24/7) from the outside.
This series is run by FantasticCat (The FTF Greater London #1 cache is GC1N994) and is a continuation of the series that Dorsetgal started in Dorset, after hearing about it how it got established in the US on the Podcacher Podcast. Hopefully in time it will become established nationwide! As Groundspeak has now prohibited the publication of caches which required you to hide another cache as a condition of logging the FTF find, you do NOT have to place another cache as a condition of logging the FTF but it would be nice if you did (particularly for YOU!), so the chain is not broken!
Guidelines for this series are below:
1. FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (in this case, The Curse of the FTF #15!) within 1 month... Otherwise the curse will prevent you from ever getting another FTF again!!! Muhahahahahahahaha!
2. You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF love around, and gives others a chance to play along.
3. Cache can be any type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, etc.), but I do ask that you set it in Greater London (there are 33 London boroughs making up Greater London; Enfield in the North down to Croydon and Bromley in the South, Hillingdon in the West through to Havering in the East).
4. You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series. I (FantasticCat) will be happy to answer any questions concerning the guidelines or about the placing of caches to those who have not placed a cache before. By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find, and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find.

This cache is placed at the perimeter of Wandsworth Park, a traditional and popular London family park open between dawn and dusk. It is a fine place to learn to cycle and roller blade. The local league football matches held there on Sundays are particularly entertaining if you enjoy watching overweight and unfit men who are old enough to know better running around and having the odd brawl. You wouldn't want to be the referee.
The cache is named after the local hostelry, The Cat's Back, on Point Pleasant, about 100m from GZ. Apparently, the owner of the pub lost his cat for a month and ended up naming the place after that happy day when he strolled back in. The pub would have originally served roughneck Thames and Wandle river workers - at one stage in the late 1700's the river Wandle was the most densely industrialised river in Europe and though the area has changed more recently the last vestiges of industry have only in the last few years been replaced by 'luxury ' residential riverside flat developments. Most certainly the pub would have been flattened had it not been for the dogged insistence of the owner that the London pub needs preserving.
There are good refreshments at the café on the old bowling green close to GZ as well as the pub.
NB: If you look at GoogleMaps, The Cat’s Back is wrongly placed at the end of Northfields next to GZ.
We've set off a couple of new TBs and dropped off a couple of coins which have been languishing in celebration and left a notebook for the FTF-er to use as they continue the series.
