Questa cache riprende il tema dell'impatto del progresso sull'ambiente, già introdotto da diversi altri lavori tra i quali ricordo, in questa zona, GC1QQ4N "Area di cava abusiva sottoposta a sequestro", e GC220JW "Parco del Ticino:TAV-AT".
E' posta all'interno del Parco del Ticino in un bosco piuttosto vasto e ricco di fauna e flora (chi è interessato trova informazioni nel listing della cache GC1AJYR), ma la cui bellezza è pesantemente impattata dall'autostrada A8 che lo attraversa dividendolo in due parti di fatto isolate in quanto ne è impossibile l'attraversamento se non in corrispondenza di pochi sottopassaggi, e che è fonte di inquinamento atmosferico, del suolo e soprattutto acustico: l'invasivo rumore dei veicoli è infatti percettibile anche ad una distanza notevole.
Non voglio fare retorica, è chiaro che le strade sono necessarie, ma una visita a questa cache fa toccare con mano l'impatto che la via di comunicazione ha avuto sulla natura, ed anche l'inciviltà che purtroppo lascia spesso i suoi segni nei nostri boschi.
La cache si trova all'interno di una buca larga e profonda che si apre improvvisa in un tratto del bosco, non lontano dal sentiero di collegamento Strona-Lagozza: si tratta un luogo di potenziale bellezza sia per la sua asprezza che per i problemi che pone la discesa. "Potenziale" perché a poche decine di metri dalla buca si trova un'area di servizio dell'autostrada, con tutto ciò che ne consegue. Inoltre non è mancato chi ha pensato di gettare i propri rifiuti all'interno di una parte - seppur circoscritta - della buca, esempio di quell'inciviltà alla quale mi riferivo sopra.
Raccomando di non sottovalutare le difficoltà dell'accesso: le pareti della "voragine" sono ripide, infide ed in alcune parti impraticabili a meno di non calarsi con una corda, mentre i tratti apparentemente più facili sono infestati da rovi fitti in tutte le stagioni. Prima di scendere è preferibile studiare un po' il posto, ricercando il punto nel quale la discesa risulta più agevole in base alle proprie capacità. In ogni caso attenzione a non farsi male, procedere con cautela e pazienza. Consiglio vivamente di indossare un paio di guanti da giardino.
La cache è nascosta sotto un masso, protetta da quattro pietre, e non dovrebbe essere un problema trovarla una volta scesi: anche questa volta, come per la maggior parte delle mie proposte, la difficoltà maggiore sarà quella di pervenire al luogo in cui è collocata, non quella di trovarla una volta raggiuntolo.
Dal parcheggio indicato alla "voragine": lungo un comodo sentiero circa un quarto d'ora di camminata oppure pochi minuti di mountain bike.

This cache takes up the subject of the impact of progress on the environment, which has already been dealt other times, such as - in this area - with GC1QQ4N "Area di cava abusiva sottoposta a sequestro", and with GC220JW "Parco del Ticino:TAV-AT".
It is inside a quite large wood in the Parco of Ticino, where you may find some interesting fauna and flora (for details see the listing of GC1AJYR), but whose beauty is heavily reduced by the expressway A8, which passes through it and splits it in two hardly communicating areas (just few underground passages), causing air, soil and especially acoustic pollution: you may hear the traffic noise even when you are far from the highway.
I don't want to be rhetorical, roads are of course necessary, but if you visit this cache you can somehow experience the effect this communication route had on the nature, and also the rudeness which unfortunately often leaves its marks in the forests.
The cache is inside a large and deep hole (the "voragine", Italian word meaning chasm) which suddenly appears in an area of the wood not far from the connection path Strona-Lagozza: it is a place potentially nice both for its sourness and for the difficulty to let oneself down in it. "Potentially" because an expressway service area is located just a few dozens of meters from it, with all that this implies. Moreover, somebody put some garbage in a part of the hole - even if a limited one - an example of the rudeness I referred to before.
I urge you not to underestimate the difficulty to enter the chasm: its walls are steep, untrustworthy and in some parts impassable unless you use a rope to let yourself down. The tracts seemingly easier, on the other hand, are overrun with thick thorns even in winter. Before getting down it is advisable to have a look at the whole perimeter of the hole, looking for the place where it is easier for you to go down. Take care not to hurt yourself, be cautious and patient. I warmly suggest to wear a pair of gardening gloves.
The cache is hidden under a block and is surrounded by four stones; once you are in the chasm it should not be difficult to find it: as it is usual for most of my caches, the main difficulty is to arrive at the place where the cache is located, not to find it afterward.
From the park to the chasm it takes about a quarter of an hour walking along a convenient pathway, or just a few minutes by mountain bike.
