This cache has been archived.

niknrich: This event is off to bed now.

Thanks to all who came and made it a great weekend.

If you picked up the 4 Musketeers Royalist Geocoin or Snoopy's Signal Travel Tag, can you please log them asap? And check down the back of sofas, car seats, caching bags etc. to see if you picked something up that you haven't logged yet.

Thanks, and see you at emCamp 2011!

Geocache Description:

It’s here!

The very first EMcache Camping Event

Friday 9th-Sunday 11th July 2010

We have booked the rally field at the Rutland Caravan & Camping site in Greetham, in England’s smallest county, Rutland.

Please contact the site directly to book on 01572 813520 (9am-5pm). Prices are shown on their webpage and based on a pitch price plus a charge per person per night. Dogs and under 5s stay free and there is a £1 reduction in the prices for rallies. Please say you are part of the Geocaching rally and you will be booked onto the rally field with everyone else.

There are 18 pitches with electric hookup and we have reserved a further 30 without, and all are suitable for tents, caravans or motorhomes/campervans. There is a £20 deposit for each electric hook-up pitch if staying two nights (non-elec pitches pay in full when booking) and the manager Jan has said she can only hold the pitches without a deposit for a month or so, so please book early if you would like to attend.

Non-camping day visitors are welcome to attend; there is a £1 pp charge for parking and use of the site facilities – please pay at Reception on arrival and collect a car park pass.

The site has nice washrooms, a shop, children’s play area and even has Wi-Fi (but unfortunately this is no longer free). A Fish-n-Chip van visits the site on Saturday evenings too (5-8pm). BBQs are allowed (but not open fires).

If you are attending please log a Will Attend below and state whether you need an electric or non-electric pitch so we can keep track of the numbers.

The Discover Rutland website has lots of information about the local area if you’re wanting to extend your stay.

Please bookmark this page or place it on your watchlist for updates.

Update 17.04.10: We have visited the site and checked it out - it all looks great, we've uploaded some photos of the facilities. A new series of caches will be released at 10am on Saturday 10th July, with a couple of shorter options for those who don't want to walk so far. Non-campers are welcome to join us for fish n chips n geochat around the campfires on Saturday until 9pm (when the campsite requests visitors to leave).

4th July 2010: IMPORTANT UPDATE: The site is now FULLY BOOKED so if you want to attend you will need to ring the site to ask if they have any cancellations. There is an alternative, seasonal Caravan Club site if you are a CC member: Greetham House Farm. It is a certified location and you have to be a caravan club member to use it. It only takes 5 caravans. The number is 01572 812616. Cost £8 per night.

Another CL is Stretton Lakes, Great North Road, Stretton Telephone: 01780 410507 Email: info@strettonlakes.co.uk Website: www.strettonlakes.co.uk Thanks to Karon (lgxkls) for the info. .

We have also been asked to request PLEASE DON'T BRING SKY LANTERNS. Pretty as they are, the crops round the site are very dry and there was a near-miss this weekend when one came down too soon and nearly started a fire. Thanks!
