A cache-n-dash in the heart of old Llantwit Major.
Number three in my series exploring the less-explored parts of Llantwit Major.
As a treat for me, I thought I'd do a cache-n-dash which doesn't require any mental effort.
Please bring a writing implement.
This cache is accessible from a path. It's near to the historic landmark (or, ruin) of "Old Place" which is a house, reportedly built in 1596. It's now a ruin, and gained recent prominence when "For Sale" boards appeared on it. That sale was soon stopped, so the castle remains in ruin.
This cache is very near to a ford, on a public road.
The ford is driveable with a capable 4x4. I've done it with no problem in a Land Rover. You won't do it in a normal car, but you could try, to add some amusment for the locals. However, residents often park to block the approach road to the ford, so don't get your hopes up. In 2012, some "road closed" signs have appeared at the ford. It's in exactly the same condition as it was before the signs. I suspect that it must have had a 'elf n' safety inspection and been deemed un drivable.
Oh, a Llantonian? One who comes from Llantwit Major, apparently.
