This cache has been archived.

step2626: After a report of a DNF I decided to go for a run and check on this cache. It is indeed missing. This cache has had a long life so I will archive it and open up the area for another cache.

Geocache Description:

Nice hike up the trail. Cache is invisible to muggles, convenient for geocachers.

There is a great system of trails at Peavy Arboretum. One of the best is the Section 36 Loop Trail. This can be reached most easily by hiking up the road from the listed parking coordinates to the Forestry Club Cabin. From there, cross the small bridge and head up the trail. When you get to a fork in the trail after about a 100 yards, be sure to take the RIGHT BRANCH, not the left one. Continue up the hill on the trail until you reach the listed coordinates. There is no reason to step off the trail at all. You can grab the cache with both feet on the trail. You are looking for a small round container two inches in diameter and four inches long. GPS reception in the heavy tree cover is not great. I have averaged numerous readings on many different days in an attempt to be reasonably close. The hint should be helpful if your GPS is bouncing around.

Please close the container tightly and return cache exactly as you found it so that no part of the container is visible. If you continue up and around the Section 36 Loop Trail, there are several other caches for you to find.

This cache has been placed with the express permission of the McDonald Forest Recreation Manager. This area is open from dawn to dusk. This hike involves a bit of elevation gain... not painfully strenuous, but definitely not flat. Sections of the trail may be muddy during winter and spring, so I recommend sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Please refer to the parking waypoint for the best spot to begin your trek. There are trail maps at the kiosk next to the parking area.

Congratulations to LiefPhotos for being FTF on this cache.
