The first school in Victoria Beach (a log cabin) was built near this location in 1916. However, the erosion of the bank brought it to an abrupt closure. One morning, the children coming to school found that the previous night's storm had washed away the land under their school building, which, together with their books and school supplies were floating in the lake. (A new school was then built on firmer ground near where the fire hall is now located on Highway 59).
The Bayview area of Victoria Beach was originally a campground. Property lots were subdivided elsewhere in the community starting around 1913, but Bayview was designated the "Campsite Area". These lots were not sold but instead were rented for $50 per lot per year. Many persons rented the same lot each year and started building small cottages on them. By 1927, the Victoria Beach Company modified its policy respecting these lots, and sold them for $300 each, and changed the area's name back to Bay View.
A significant portion of the Campsite Area (between 8th Avenue and David Rd) has now 'disappeared' into the lake.

The most popular day beach is Clubhouse Beach (N 50° 41.925 W 096° 33.687). There is no campground at Victoria Beach.
In the summer months, you'll find public washrooms at N 50° 42.055 W096° 33.555 (Village Green), or N 50° 41.919 W096° 33.646 (near the Clubhouse).
Parking note: During the months of July and August, vehicle traffic is restricted at Victoria Beach. If you arrive between the last week of June and Labour Day (first weekend in September), you must park your car in the parking lot (N 50° 42.135 W 096° 33.191) and walk from there. Parking will cost you $8.00 for the day (in 2020). So bring your bike. Alternatively, bring you family and beach gear and make a day of it. Note: During the other 10 months of the year, your vehicle is welcome to travel with you throughout the community. Note: If you indicate to the parking lot attendant that you are just going to find a geocache near the Bakery, they will only charge you $3.00. (If they've never heard of geocaching, mention you are just going to the Bakery).
