This is a WINTER
cache! It is likely accessible in the summer but you will need to
bushwhack to get to it. Welcome ot the Cookie
Jar!
This funky little cabin was one of the
first cross-country skiing cabins in the Rossland Range, and was
bult by the Rossland Senior Citizen's Ski Club. As you can see from
the decorating, they are an eclectic bunch. This cabin started the
cabin-building craze and there are now almost a dozen cabins in
this area, all built and maintained by volunteers. There are cabins
all over both sides of the highway here... all accessible by
various trails and old logging
roads.
This cabin is named for Cookie LeCluse,
one of the builders and one of the founders of this
area.
I would recommend cross-country skis or
snowshoes to access this one - though if it hasn't snowed for a
week, you could likely hike in fairly easy. From the logical
parking area, cross the highway. The trail to the right is the
easiest way to access this cache. The cache is obviously winter
accessible, so if you see that it's too low (from recent snowfalls)
or too high (from snowmelt), please place it at a more reasonable
level. Have fun, and please feel free to ask questions or
directions!
