Horticultural Research Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RUSCHIE: Due to the state of the site and having been muggled several times I have decided to end this caches day and archive it. Thanks to the many finders for their comments, I have enjoyed the comments from all. Here is an opportunity for someone else to establish a new cache in this wonderful area.

Geocache Description:

Same reserve as my first cache but a little harder. A nice trek through the bush this time.

This reserve was once part of the Horticultural Research centre until land prices took off. The area became a housing devolopment with the original retarding basin being kept as a bird sanctuary. If you are into bird watching bring your gear and spend a pleasant few hours observing. The lake is fed by Dysons drain which has it's origins further up into Ferntree Gully. My kids used to catch Redfin in the lake prior to it's development so bring a rod and try your luck. The lake is circumnavigated by a shared path so the kids might enjoy a ride as well. There are a few smaller tracks which is where your GPS should take you. The cache is about 3mtr's off the track close to the scrub so be on the look out for creepy crawlies. I've never seen any but that's not to say they aren't there. The container is a clear 425ml clip lock which contains a fridge magnet, bulldog clip,Japanese Token, thumb rubber, pencil grip & a golf ball.Make sure you cover it well as it can be easily seen from the track when you know where to look. SMALL swaps only please. Good Luck.
