Geocache Description:

The cache is one for the kids. Fairly easy to find, with a playground nearby and in a nice area. Parking is available nearby so the walk is only short. There may be a little bit of hunting around to find the cache but as it is our first attempt, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Stretching back to the colonial era, Harrington Park comprises some of the earliest land grants in Australia. Harrington Park’s rich history is typified in the two old homesteads on its grounds – Harrington Park Homestead and Orielton Homestead.

Both homesteads span a long history, having housed the gentry, military and farmers alike. Harrington Park Homestead is particularly remembered for having been the seat of the Fairfax family's holiday home, particularly loved by Sir Warwick Fairfax, who wrote some of his greatest books on its premises.

The Harrington Park area has been developed over recent years, but the history of the area remains.
