Mannal gogae, San 175-7 Wolyeong-dong, Masan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do

마산시 현동과 월영동의 경계를 이루는 고개를 말한다. 이 만날고개에는 시집간 딸과 친정어머니가 1년에 한번 양가의 가운데쯤에서 만나는 풍속인 '반보기'에 대한 전설이 전해지고 있다.옛날 마산포에 홀어머니와 삼남매가 사는 집이 있었다. 어머니가 병까지 앓아 살림이 빈궁해지자 큰 딸은 집안을 위해 고개 너머 감천골의 부잣집 아들과 혼인을 한다. 신랑감은 벙어리에 반신불수였지만 혼인만 하면 얼마간의 돈을 주겠다고 했기 때문이었다. 그 딸은 시집간 날부터 시댁의 모진 구박속에서 친정나들이 한번 못하고 3년을 살았다. 마음은 비단결이었던 남편은 부모 몰래 아내를 친정에 보내놓고는 고개에 올라가 자살을 하고 만다. 아내 앞으로 "도망가서 잘 살아라"는 유서를 남겨 놓은채였다. 졸지에 청상과부가 된 딸은 시댁에서 수절하면서 몇해를 살았다. 자나깨나 친정어머니를 그리던 딸은 어느날 고개에 올라갔다. 하늘이 도운 것일까. 때마침 친정어머니도 딸이 보고픈 마음에 고갯마루로 올라온 것이었다. 그후 모녀는 해마다 이 날이면 고개에서 만나 회포를 풀었다.이 모녀의 슬픈 만남이 입에서 입으로 전해지면서 고개이름도 '만날고개'로 굳어졌다. 모녀가 상봉하던 추석 이틀후인 음력 팔월 열이렛날에는 '만날제' 축제가 이곳에서 열린다.
