The cache is a small black tube . In each of the bridge caches there are a few small swops. The cache also contains a first to find badge.The cache isn't wheelchair accessable because there is rough ground.
Rocky Loanen
Rocky Loanen, now known as Oakfield Glen is one of many Right of Way paths that criss crossed the area bounded by North Road, Marshallstown Road, Beltoy Road and Larne Road in Carrickfergus.
For years these paths served as access to the fields and for workers to get to work and children to get to school. Many still exist and are recognised by Carrickfergus Council but others disappeared rapidly in recent years mainly as the area is developed for housing.
This path passes through an area now managed by the Woodland trust and is a popular route for dog walkers .
Take time to wander round the network of paths and small bridges crossing the river which rises from a spring at the top of the lane and was the source of water for the dam (now infilled and built on) at Amblers Mill in Taylors Avenue in Carrickfergus (now apartments ).
Why not do this cache as part of a walk/cycle starting at Carrickfergus Castle and finishing at Ballycarry where you could catch a train back to Carrickfergus. Estimated distance from Carrickfergus Castle to Ballycarry is 7-8 miles.
