Geocache Description:

"On Elkhorn S" is a series of caches highlighting bridges over South Elkhorn Creek. This creek is historically significant to the founding and history of Lexington and Frankfort, which mark its source and destination. South Elkhorn Creek is canoeable from as high as Clays Mill Rd (N37 59.234 W084 33.783) after rains. There are many mild rapids and a few small dams. The cache names are numbered by river miles from source.

This park and grab highlights the highest headwater of South Elkhorn Creek I could locate at the surface. The parking lot now covers (since the 70's) the source of South Elkhorn, which now is probably the nearby storm drains. The creek surfaces WNW about 600', at a culvert by the railroad.

Plenty of parking. I don't recommend night caching here because the security guys are always concerned about vandalism and parked cars stand out so it's hard to be discrete.
