New Eagle was formerly called Riverview and was established in 1901, incorporated as a borough in September 9, 1912. It was the birthplace of football legend Joe Montana. It originally had two schools, Roosevelt (grades one to four and seven and eight; Bellewood School (grades five and six). All the students now attend Ringgold School District. This memorial was dedicated in 2009, if you look closely on the right side you can see Rabbit Cops birth name. He was born and raised in New Eagle.
