Friendship Park Traditional Cache

The closest parking lot is at the corner of Scott Street and Shady Grove Road (034 29 463 N 093 02 887 W).
Once this area was on the outskirts of town. Across the road from the cache is a hillside where garbage trucks would back up to the edge and dump their trash. The area became known as Tin Can Hill. The odor from the creek, which was used as a sewer, also kept people away. There were not even any houses within smelling distance of the creek.
THAT WAS THEN - THIS IS NOW
Friendship Park is now one of my favorite destinations for a little exercise or a peaceful stroll. This is in the 1st phase portion of the Hot Springs Creek Greenway which when completed will end at Lake Hamilton, 4.2 miles from the greenway's origin in town.
Bring your kids, your dogs, roller blades, bicycles, wheelchairs or strollers. Don't forget to pack your picnic basket. If you park at a picnic table and bring extra food you might make a new friend while enjoying the fresh air and listening to the rushing waters of the creek after heavy rains. When I set this cache out our feathered friends were everywhere.
Be sure to venture further south and see what's hoppin' down the bunny trail.
There is another parking lot about .3 miles south with restrooms and a playground on Hollywood Avenue.
