Unarchive a geocache

Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. Only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ can unarchive caches. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if the cache meets the current geocaching guidelines.

If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The town of Northampton, set amongst rolling hills, is one of the oldest settlements outside of Perth. European history in the area goes back as early as 1848 but local aboriginal people have called the Northampton area home for much longer and Aboriginal cave paintings attest to this.

The town was declared as a town site in 1864, some 20 years after rich copper deposits were discovered at Wannerenooka Hill. In 1993 the National Trust of Australia classified Northampton as a Historical Town, one of only three in WA together with Albany and York.

In the town site itself you can step back in time as you enter Chiverton House (c.1895). This stone walled complex has a rich history of owners and uses. Step inside to see artefacts and photographs of our past.

The history information was extracted from www.northampton.wa.gov.au

Northampton was Mr Bushies2’s boyhood haunts and it brought back many happy memories for him when we visited the town.

The cache is located at the Chiverton House museum…be careful where you park because it is just past a bridge, it is best to park at the museum.

Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder are the local maintainers for our cache. Thanks.

Congratulations to Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder on the First To Find.
