Henry the Hermit Hamster's Happy Hillside Hideaway Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

lefthanded99: Regrettably the time has come for Henry to retire. Significant hedge management in the area means that the Hillside Hideaway is not the Happy place that it previously was. Sadly I’m afraid this means that there are no hamstercaches in England or Wales now.

Geocache Description:

Henry, the Hermit Hamster, lives in a quiet rural spot. His home is well-hidden, but he would love for you to visit him.

DSC05103b
A clip-lok box cache situated not far from a road, but not your usual cache-and-dash either. Please do not remove Henry the Hamster. He has a Travel Bug number, so you can 'discover' him, but please leave him in the cache for the next visitor. Unfortunately the original Henry was stolen and for a time he was just a picture on a key-ring, but now we have managed to obtain a replacement so "Henry2" is waiting for you.

Henry's Hideaway overlooks the village of Ponthir. The tall chimney you can see is the remains of the Star Brickworks. The Brickworks has been closed for many years, but the name lives on in the local pub - the Star Inn.

This is a single-track road with some passing places. There is a passing place quite near to the cache, but it is the only one on this section of the road. Please do not block it for any length of time.

It might be a good idea to wear sturdy clothing when you are retrieving this cache. Please make sure that the box is properly closed when you leave so that it will remain waterproof. We wouldn't want Henry to be flooded out, would we.
