Unnatural Selection

Himalayan Balsam
is an introduced species from Asia which was added to ornamental
ponds and parks during the Victorian era. The Himalayan Balsam
spread very quickly and has now colonised almost every source of
water in the UK. This is disadvantageous to other plants native to
the UK because the Himalayan Balsam is prolific, blocking out
sunlight and using all the soil nutrients.
