El 13 de Octubre del 2000, en ceremonia presidida por el entonces Presidente de México, Dr. Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León, se izó por primera vez esta Bandera Monumental con el propósito de fortalecer el respeto a los símbolos patrios, nuestra identidad y unidad nacional.
Ubicada en el Km 207 de la Carretera México-Querétaro, el astabandera tiene 60 m de altura y la bandera mide 30 m de largo por 17.1 m de ancho.
La plaza cívica comprende una superficie de 80 m2, con guarnición de concreto e instalación eléctrica.
Los trabajos iniciaron el 19 de julio y concluyeron el 2 de octubre de ese año, realizándose con una inversión de 2.5 mdp (88.1% estatal, 7.5% privada, 2.4% federal y 2% municipal).
In October 13, 2000, during a ceremony chaired by former President of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Leon, this Monumental Flag was raised for the first time in order to strengthen respect for our national symbols, our national identity and our unity.
Located at Km 207, Mexico-Queretaro highway, the flagpole is 60 m tall and the flag is 30 m long and 17.1 m wide.
The civic plaza covers an area of 80 sq. meters with concrete lining and electrical installation.
Work began on July 19 and ended on 2 October of that year, with an investment of 2.5 million pesos (88.1% state, 7.5% private, 2.4% 2% federal and municipal).
