I was
startled awake from an already restless sleep by a hand on my
shoulder. As my eyes came into focus I could see the general's
driver above me.
"Sir", he said, "this is for you".
My eyes moved to his hands and I saw that he was clutching a small
envelope. I knew immediately what this meant.
"Another assignment?" I asked......already knowing the
answer.
"Yes sir, he picked you because you are the best we've got".
I thanked the sergeant and sent him on his way.
Finally, I thought, a reason to leave this stifling tent.
