caches en een bonus bij bezienswaardigheden in het mooie
Heuvelland, waar tot op heden weinig caches waren.
Op 5 mei 1942 werd een
luchtaanval uitgevoerd op het Noordfranse Rijsel, maar een
luchtgevecht brak los boven Heuvelland en één van de
slachtoffers was de Tjechische Karel Pavlik. Zijn Spitfire boorde
zich met volle snelheid in de grond vlakbij de Kemmelberg. Pas na
de oorlog werd zijn lijk en het grootste deel van zijn vliegtuig
geborgen. Een ander slachtoffer was de Belg Baudouin de Hemptinne
die kon landen niet ver van de Zwarte Molen (in de buurt van cache
Heuvelland 1) maar die bezweek aan zijn verwonding. Hij kreeg een
gedenkteken op de hoek van het kerhof van Dranouter.
Vergeet niet het getal te noteren om de bonus cache te
vinden!

caches and a bonus near attractions in this beautiful Heuvelland,
where not a lot of caches could be found until now.
On May 5th 1942 an airstrike took
place on the French city Lille but a battle started above
Heuvelland and one of the victims was the czech Karel Pavlik. His
Spitfire drilled itself in the ground at full speed on the flank of
mount Kemmel. It was only after the war that most of the plane and
his corpse was salvaged. Another victim was the Belgian Baudouin de
Hemptinne who could land on the other side of the village near
Zwarte Molen (not far from cache Heuvelland 1) but succumbed of his
wound shortly after. A memorial was erected near the church of
Dranouter.
