"Jake" leads the way The oil rush began in 2009 with "Jake," a well drilled near the Wyoming border by Houston-based EOG Resources. While the average onshore U.S. oil well yields about 300 barrels a month, Jake gave up 1,558 barrels a day, according to the company.
