Geocache Description:

Star struck in St. Augustine again! This cache has been moved to a new area on the property due to repeated muggleing.

Located where orange groves once bloomed and flourished, you will take center stage and be in the limelight while searching for this cache. In the 1890s a large orange grove covered this area. The groves were owned by Dr. Garnett who very early on "cashed in" on the tourists who came to St. Augustine on Flagler’s railroad. Dr. Garnett decided to open his groves to the northern visitors, allowing them to pick oranges while they sipped freshly squeezed juice and purchased souvenirs in his small shoppe. Dr. Garnett named the dirt road leading to his groves "St. Louis Ave". He thought this to be most appropriate since he came to St. Augustine from St. Louis, MO. The bulldozers arrived in the 1960s and the groves disappeared as St. Augustine got ready to celebrate the Ancient City's 400th birthday. Motels and eateries were being built were the groves once grew and since St. Louis Avenue didn't sound "very old Spanish", the city fathers saw fit to change the name to Old Mission Avenue. A cafeteria was built, but through the years, cafeterias became less popular and this eatery closed. The Coalition for Aging then moved into the building, serving meals and offering hospitality to the elder citizens of St. Augustine. Today, excitement and stars abound with the new "company" that occupies this spot. . Be sure you do not "act" like you are caching in this high traffic muggle area. Four times a year, a special prize can be found in this cache. If you are the lucky cacher to find one of these tickets, take the ticket with you and contact me to claim your prize! You’ll know it when you see it. You are looking for a large cammo’ed Lock n Lock, please replace as found…..well hidden!
