Geocache Description:


This is the first of my three-cache Slap Stick series. When I was in high school and even during my early years of college, my brother buoybob and I played a lot of street hockey with our buddies from high school and church. It was probably the most fun I've ever had in my life, and I have a ton of great memories of playing street hockey with the boys.

Each of the three caches in this series was placed at a memorable street hockey location, and the series represents the progression of our involvement with the sport.

This first cache is in the parking lot of First Baptist Church's new Family Life Center. Before this building was erected, this was the site of the small basketball court where we got our start--cheap rollerblades, plastic sticks and trash cans for goals. And to try to keep the puck or ball on the court, we lined the court with benches, but that soon proved to be hazardous to our health. Ha! My two best friends and I quickly emerged as the allstars (brushing my shoulders off now! Ha!), and we would challenge as many as five other players in a game; we named our "team" the Concrete Coyotes, after the Phoenix Coyotes, my favorite team at the time. Good times!
