Pan's Auloniads Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

Pan's Auloniads
"A chattering crow lives out nine generations of aged men, but a stag's life is four times a crow's.
A raven's life makes three stags old, while the phoenix outlives nine ravens.
But we, the rich-haired Nymphs, daughters of Zeus the aegis-holder, outlive ten phoenixes."

The Auloniads are Nymphs of the pastures.
Protecting the flock from wild animals ....and un-leashed dogs!

Auloniads are found in or near pastures often in the company of Pan, the God of nature.
One such Auloniad was: 'Eurydice' and it was in the valley of the Thessalian river Pineios where she met her death, indirectly at the hands of Aristaeus.
He (the son of the God Apollo and the nymph Cyrene) desired to ravish Eurydice.

It was either disgust or fear made the nymph run away from him without looking where she was going.
She then trod on a poisonous serpent and died.

A better fate than succumbing to life with 'A minor god in Greek mythology' maybe?
Women can be so fickle!

The cache is a tube with log & pencil in a green pull string bag, right next to and facing a pasture.
This walk is very muddy in Winter so no high heels or flip flops.

You should not need to bring your own pen to sign ... but a good cacher always does!

And no need for tweezers either!
Good luck!

Congratulations to the North Wales Mr FTF guy: Mike of Team Marzipan, for getting yet another FTF

Don't you dare call me Micro-Queen!
