Geocache Description:

Lake Tyrell Viewing Platform

A simple cache at an interesting site. Lake Tyrell is a 40,000 acre natural draining basin for the surrounding Mallee farming countryside. Although it is dry most of the year , it is Victoria's largest Salt Lake and produces many tonnes of salt annually at the nearby Cheetham salt works. Looking north-west from the viewing platform, salt stockpiles can be seen around the outer edge of the lake. An interesting story board gives more information. The lake is also the home to Sealake Mallee Rally , a round of the Vic/Aust Offroad racing Championship which takes place on the Queens Birthday long weekend and transforms the nearby town of Sealake into a hive of activity. You are looking for a small Cliplok Container for small swaps. - Note BYO Pen
