The posted coordinates bring you to Stage 1 of this 6 stage multi-puzzle. It will lead you on a short walk in Centennial Park. We recommend you bring a piece of paper and a pencil to organize the clues. A calculator would be useful as well.
Stage 1. At this stage we enlisted the help of some local goats. After months of practice we taught the goats to distinguish between muggles and geocachers. Stand at the posted coordinates and carefully show the goats your GPS unit. In response, a certain number of goats have been trained to look up at your face. Count the number of goats looking at you and keep track of this number. If you get no response you may need to bribe them with some of the provided food because, after all, they are goats not sheep. If cachers disagree about the number of attentive goats, show the goats the GPS unit one more time and settle on a number. Although this sounds crazy, trust the goats. They know what they are doing.
G = # of attentive goats
Stage 2: N 50 45.070, W 120 20.914. Count the number of grassed "islands" in the parking lot.
P = # grassed islands
Stage 3: N 50 45.048 W 120 20.893. The approximate angle of the lowest yellow bar of the gate relative to the ground is: a) 45 degrees or b) 90 degrees
Y = angle of yellow bar
Stage 4: N 50 45.011 W 120 20.883. Count the number of words on the TOP row of the sign and subtract one from this number.
S = # words - 1.
Stage 5: N 50 45.089 W 120 20.862. The number of cement picnic tables multiplied by 3.
T = # picnic tables x 3
To get the number that decodes the final cache location, you must work through the following steps with the numbers that you collected.
Step 1 = multiply G (# of attentive goats) by P (# of parking lot islands)
Step 2 = add Y (# degrees) to the answer from Step 1
Step 3 = multiply the answer from Step 2 by S (# words - 1)
Step 4 = divide the answer from Step 3 by T (# tables x 3)
Step 5 = subtract G (# of goats) from the answer for Step 4.
This will provide you with the final puzzle number.
The fake final cache location is N 50 45.120, W 120 20.761. To get the true final cache location, subtract your final puzzle number from the last digits of the N and W coordinates. For example, if your puzzle number is a 2 digit number then subtract your puzzle number from 20 for the northing and from 61 for the westing to get the true coordinates.
This cache can only be done during goat business hours (daytime). The final container is a small camo'd match container and it has room for a log only. Bring your own pencil. The final will be trickier to find in more than a couple of inches of snow.
