Geocache Description:


Gran Canaria was created in three cycles or periods. During the first period, a volcano appeared in the ocean and gave birth to the island xx million years ago and, initially, it was flat. In a second phase, great volcanic activity formed a big volcano in the centre of the island, as exists nowadays in Tenerife, the Teide. It collapsed, creating the great Crater of Tejeda you can see today. Afterwards, a great period of erosion happened and no more volcanic activity took place in the southwest part of the island.

The subsequent eruptions appeared in the northwest, where we are now. x million years ago, a second cycle of eruptions formed the Roque Nublo, a symbol for all the Canarian.

In a third final period (x million years ago), new eruptions gave birth to the Montañón Negro (the Black Mountain), the most recent volcano of the Island; to Calderetas Basin, Osorio Peak and Arucas Mountain, geological formations you can see on the way to Valsendero. Geologically, Gran Canaria has two different parts: the most recent, the Northeast, called Neocanaria and the oldest, the Southwest, called Paleocanaria.

Gran Canaria hat sich in drei Perioden oder Phasen gebildet. Waehrend der ersten Periode fing die Insel an, sich aus einem Vulkan zu bilden, der vor xx Millionen Jahren aus dem Inneren des Ozeans aufgetaucht war und anfangs flach war. In der zweiten Phase, als eine große vulkanische Taetigkeit herrschte, bildete sich im Inneren der Insel ein großer Vulkan, wie dies auf Teneriffa mit dem Teldevulkan der Fall war. Dieser große Vulkan stuerzte ein und schuf das, was heute der große Krater von Tejeda ist, den wir uns gegenueber bewundern koennen. Nach diesem Einsturz gab es eine lange Periode der Erosion und im suedwestlichen Teil haben danach keine vulkanischen Eruptionen mehr stattgefunden.

Die naechsten Eruptionen fanden im nordwestlichen Teil der Insel statt, naemlich da, wo wir uns jetzt befinden. Vor x Millionen Jahren hat eine zweite Periode der Eruptionen den Roque Nublo (der Nebelfelsen) gebildet; es ist das Symbol fuer alle Kanarier ueberhaupt.

In der dritten und letzten Periode (vor x Millionen Jahren) gab es neue Eruptionen, die den Montañón Negro (Schwarzen Berg) bildeten; es ist der juengste Vulkan der Insel; oder Calderetas, den Osoriogipfel oder den Berg von Arucas; es sind geologische Formationen, die man auf der Strecke nach Valsendero sehen kann. Von geologischen Gesichtpunkt aus kann man behaupten, dass Gran Canaria zwei unterschiedliche Teilgebiete kennt; den Nordosten oder Neocanaria; es ist die juengste Formation und den aelteren suedwestlichen Teil oder Paleocanaria.

b) Schätze/ermittle die Entfernung von deinem Standort zum Roque Nublo.

c) Teile uns den Höhenunterschied zwischen deinem Standort und der Spitze des Roque Nublo mit.

d) Wann wurde das Gebiet zum Weltbiospärenreservat erklärt. Genaues, vollständiges Datum xx.xx.xxxx

e) Mache ein Bild von dir, einem persönlichen Gegenstand oder deinem GPS am "Mirado".
Seit dem 10. Juni 2019 kann wieder ein Logfoto als Besuchsbeweis gefordert werden, jedoch nicht als Ersatz für eine auf den geologischen Ort zugeschnittenen Aufgabe. Letztere ist immer zwingend erforderlich.

Sende Deine Antworten zu a) bis c) an Team gorgaz. Schreibe sie bitte nicht ins Log! Du musst keine Logerlaubnis abwarten, sondern darfst sofort loggen. Das wird in den neuen Richtlinien zur Logfreigabe bei Earthcaches klargestellt. Sollten die Antworten nicht richtig sein, melden wir uns, und dann arbeiten wir gemeinsam daran.
