This is the first cache I've placed, and it's a nice walk along
the River Crouch in Wickford, that can get extremely muddy
in places. It's a fairly straight forward stroll but there is one
short, steep bank to climb near the end but there are some steps
up.
You are looking for a plastic, 35mm film can which contains a
look book and a mobile phone charm/dangler for the first to find.
Unfortunately, since placing, the pencil has disappeared so please
make sure you bring your own pen to sign the log book.
There are two ways of tackling this cache. The first, and most
enjoyable, is via the nature trail that runs alongside the river
from the A129 London Road in Wickford (N51o36.747 - E0o30.928)
taking in the many different flower and forna, not to mention the
plentiful wildlife that can be spotted along its banks, especially
in the warmer months. If you take this route you will have to cross
the river by either the concrete bridge or, for the more daring,
the precarious plank-type crossing a little further along, then
joining up with Footpath 91 to Castledon Road.
The other way is as a cache and dash being located, as it is,
close to Castledon Road. However, this is not recommended as the
road can be quite busy and there is no pavement or designated
parking or stopping places.
Happy hunting!
