BONUS Cache... This cache series will take you along Varteg and The Balance Circular walk towards Cwmavon, through woodland and emerging onto Varteg and returning via the Balance.
The walk will take you along the Viaduct, through Pen-y-lan wood; past the Old Jackdaw Quarry; through the now abandoned Varteg railway station; through a mature beech woodland, across Vipond's Top Pits; Past the ruins of the Lighthouse.
Cache details: Large tupperware box hidden in a camo bag, that contains log book, pencil and sharpener plus usual small swaps, and FTF prize of compass/magnifying gadget.
The co-ordinates given are for the parking area at the start of this 4.5 mile walk. To work out the co-ordiantes for this cache you would have collected a clue from each cache in this series.
The final cache co-ordinates are:
N. 51 44.(A+B) C (E+A)
W. 003 05.(E-D-B-A) A (B+D)
Cache #2 is temporarily disabled so the clue you require from here is : B=4
To return to the starting car park, continue along the track, passing the flattened coal tip to the left, cross the river and turn left. Follow this path through the wooded area always staying left, passing through two kissing gates. Once at the road, turn left and follow this road back to this car park.
There is a spolier photo showing the view from the cache location. A pair of gloves may be handy in the retrieval of this cache
