Another instalment in the 'Emu Crossings' series.
This time it's the turn of the historic Darlington crossing.
Situated on the Hamilton Highway, Darlington is more well-known for
the heritage-listed Elephant Hotel than for its proximity to Mt Emu
Creek. On the way here you will also pass Mt Elephant, a scoria
cone rising some 240m out of the landscape.
Also at this location is the original bridge over the creek, or
rather, the remaining supports for it. We didn't find any
information on when the bridge was built or how long it has been
out of action for, maybe an ex-local might be able to help here
.

This is a great little area for a picnic despite the lack of
facilities, and if it's hot, not a bad place for a quick dip. Don't
be fooled: although it seems a fairly quiet and unused location, it
is apparent that muggles do frequent this area, and probably quite
often, so please take care when replacing the cache. You are
looking for a small Sistema container. Parking on the western side
of the creek is best unless you like creek crossings.
