A nice 50 caliber ammo can to reward you for the effort it takes to get here (in case the gorgeous view isn't enough).
The difficulty level is high to account for the terrain. There are many ways in. We took the tough route up the hill across from the pumphouse. You may pick another way but any trail you choose is far from just a walk in the park ;)
We have enjoyed exploring this area many times and always wanted to have a hide of our own in here. You don't have to look very far to find information on the tunnel or the cemetery that once stood in the pondage area. On one of our visits we even noticed what could be the base of a tombstone just off shore (see photo).
You can easily spend an entire day exploring all the amazing history that is still standing. Who knows how much longer it will still be there by the looks of the crumbling walls. So do yourself a favor, get out and enjoy a fresh smiley in a great spot.
