This family-friendly cache is located in Hopewell Borough Park. The nearest parking is along Columbia Avenue (near the Gazebo) or East Prospect Street. The trails visit meadows, emerging forest and the Bedens Brook, not to mention the community-built castle playground.
The Hopewell Borough Park is open daily, dusk to dawn. The trails offer a great place to take a stroll, run around or explore nature. Be sure to visit the castle playground and the Monet bridge crossing the Bedens Brook. During the summer a concert series is held at the gazebo. The park’s meadows, hedgerows and young forests are home to a variety of creatures. Explore the brook in warmer weather and you may find creek chub and dace schooling, crayfish patrolling, garter snakes sunning and green frogs squeaking as they hop into the water. Look for tracks of raccoons in the mud. Watch along the trails for signs of deer and red fox or visit early in the day in hopes of spying them. If you are bird watching you will find common birds like cardinals, blue jays, mockingbirds and chickadees to name a few. The open meadows host sparrows throughout the year. Be sure to look up – turkey and black vultures as well as red tailed hawks are common here. If you like insects and wildflowers, be sure to spend time in the meadows.
