In 2009, a nice mural went up in the alley between the Main St
El and Metra stations. It features a mosaic map of Evanston. I
thought it would be a perfect place to invite geocachers.
It’s exactly the kind of thing that is worth seeing
(especially if you’re into maps, and don’t geocachers
fit that description?), but would likely miss if it wasn’t
for a cache call.
You’ll have to figure out the answers to some questions at
the posted coordinates to get the location of the final.
Questions to answer:
How many small tiles are immediately to the right of
“Chicago” on the bottom of the design? Answer = A
How many sides are there to the shape created by the big main
red lines in the middle of the map? Answer = B
How many small rays are coming out of the sun in the upper right
corner? Answer = C
In the name of the town on the left of the map (West), how many
letters have a star design? Answer = D
Now, look at the dedication plaques to the left of the
mosaic.
How many words are in the top-most line (the title)? Answer =
E
Check your math:
C+D=A+B+E-D
Have X=C+E-D
Have Y=(A*B)2-B (that's A-times-B-squared)
Add X to the last three digits of the Northern coordinates.
Subtract Y from the last three digits of the Western
coordinates.
The final requires stealth!

Note that the container doesn't close completely, it would be
nearly impossible to remove the log if it did. Please do close as
much as possible and replace exactly as found.
You should only log this cache online if you've signed the paper
log. If you encountered problems with accessing the paper log then
include the problem in your online log and preferably email
turtlefan with a photo of the cache. Dishonest entries will be
deleted.
Logs stating more than simply "TFTC" are much appreciated.
