The Love Bug GC23KBX
VW Bugs have always had a soft spot in my heart, since I learned to
drive in my Dad's 1962, blue one. I am grateful to him today, for
the ability to drive a stick-shift car, but silently "cursed him"
at the time, for making me drive it to the first intersection and
Stop sign from our house, which happened to be at the top of a
"HUGE HILL". Clutch, brake, shift gears, engine died. Over and over
and over again, just trying to get through the intersection.
The first one I owned was a bright red one, in 1966, while in
school in Hawaii. Still miss that little car, but have moved up in
the world, to the Vanagon campers. Had a '66, an '82 Diesel, and
still own a '90 Vanagon Camper, with 200,000 miles on it.
The Herbie Love Bug movie series has placed this cute little car in
the Hearts of many of us, kids and old-timers alike.
Cache is outside the VW dealer's lot.
