This cache has been archived.

Workyticket: As there appears to have been no response from the CO we are archiving this cache listing to prevent it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements in the area. Once a cache is archived for non-responsiveness (including the cache page) it can't be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The Lambton Sundial, the biggest in Britain, was created in 2007/8  and is located at the entrance to the Lambton Estate near Chester -le -Street in County Durham. The Sundial is laid out over a tapering spiral earth mound over 120 metres long. The hour markers are monolithic sandstone , the tallest over 3 metres. The Gnomon , which casts the suns shadow , is constructed from recycled railway track and is over 50ft tall and set at an angle of 54.86 degrees, the latitude of the sundial.
It is the work of sculptor Ray Brooks, commissioned by Lambton Developments Ltd. Under a “Percentage for Art” project, as part of a new development on the estate. More information, including a photograph, can be found at a dedicated website (visit link)

Guidelines for this series are below:

1) FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (in this case, Curse of the FTF County Durham #3) within 1 month. Please note only the FTF'er should place the next cache and not every time someone finds the cache.

2) You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF around, and gives others a chance to play along. (This is at least till everyone has had ago at FTF who wants to)

3) Cache can be any size or type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, etc.), but I do ask that:

a) You set it in County Durham Area and

b) if it is a puzzle then it can not be too hard as it should be easy enough for everyone to find.

4) You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series. By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find, and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find. But if you don't intend to carry on the series please do not FTF and leave it for someone else.

This series is intended to increase the number of local caches- so please do put them in places worth a visit- and if you've missed FTF do visit them anyway!
