Geocache Description:

This is a short circular walk around the footpaths of Essington. These footpaths become very muddy in wet weather. There is a brief walk along a main road so care is needed.

The short walk starts at this interesting looking house that was once the Essington Signal Box built around 1890 to control trains from Holly Bank Colliery across Bursnips Road.

This is the house that stands on the site today.

How the signal box looked in the 1960's.

The public footpath starts at the left of the house here N 52° 37.629 W 002° 02.771 and crosses the M6 motorway via a bridge. Parking can be found at the Old Mitre Pub nearby or on the bridge near to cache ~1

Cache ~ 4 is a small round container.
