Geocache Description:

This area, and all of the area comprising the ball complexes from Solano to Walnut, were donated to the City of Las Cruces with the stipulation that it always remain an airport. Therefore, the patch of asphalt to the northwest of here serves as a helipad thereby remaining an airport even though it is seldom, if ever, used to land aircraft. There is a building on the west side of Solano that used to be The Airport Inn, a tavern that served airport customers and anyone else that wanted to venture this far 'out of town'.
