Have you ever enter an area and felt the hair on the back of your neck stand on end? Such is the case while I was in the place where this cache is homed. I had originally placed the cache about 200 feet to the north, but on walking back to the Jeep, this beautiful ancient live oak whispered to me thru the woods. “Can visit me, I’m over here”. Cool, my favorite kinda tree! So I went back and retrieved the cache from it’s hiding place and took it with me to see this old beauty. As I entered deeper into the woods where the oak is standing, remnants of some sort of old structure began to appear thru the cover of dead leaves, vines, and trigs strum about the forest floor. Now wrecked by time, I was wondering was this an old homestead, or perhaps an old work shack from when US 1 was first put in decades ago. None the less, something WAS here at one time. I turned my attention to the great tree standing before me and all the moss and resurrection fern that had found a home on it’s branches. Then while standing there, I suddenly got the feeling I was being watched. I turned and looked around me in all directions, but I didn’t see anything or anyone and the quietness of the area was deafening. Taking the cache from under my arm I quickly found a hiding place for it, knowing I had to get that done before leaving, which I did reluctantly in a hurry, vowing I’d be back next time with company. So when you go looking for this large cammo’ed plastic jar, enter the area quietly and feel your senses sharpen as you search while being watched.
