The Cedars is one of a series of three caches that share a common theme – and section – of the Canfield/Meadow Woods Preserve in Essex and Deep River. All the caches are match stick containers hidden in, on or near cedar trees in the northern portion of the preserve in Deep River.
You can access this cache by parking at the trail head off Book Hill Woods Road, Essex, or CT Rt 154, Deep River. You will need to hike to the northern orange trail to an area called Cedar Knoll. You will recognize it because unlike the surrounding forest, this area has a high density of cedar trees. Enjoy the hike and good luck – and please replace the cache as found.
