Cedars III is one of a series of three caches that share a common theme – and section – of the Canfield/Meadow Woods Preserve in Essex and Deep River. All the caches are match stick containers hidden in, on or near cedar trees in the northern portion of the preserve in Deep River. Let me correct this statement. When this cache first was hidden, it was under a downed cedar; however the hiding spot got trashed so I moved the cache to an evergreen - a hemlock - not a cedar.
You can access this cache by parking at the trail head off Book Hill Woods Road, Essex, or CT Rt 154, Deep River. The cache is located a short bushwhack from the northern silver trail which is a short extension off the northern yellow trail. Enjoy the hike and good luck – and please replace the cache as found.
