The Palapala Hoomau Congregational Chuch is a historic missionary church in Kipahulu. This church was founded in 1864 and remodeled with the help of Charles Lindbergh.
Charles Lindbergh was a famed aviator who at the the age of 25 was the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean.
In 1927, the air mail carrier left New York and through weather and fatigue landed in Paris 33.5 hours later to become a mega celebrity of his century.
In later life, his old friend Sam Pryor told Lindbergh "I have found Heaven on Earth" here on Maui. When Lindbergh came to see, he was immediately smitten and moved here. Charles Lindbergh and his friend Sam Pryor are buried here in the church garden. If you go to visit the graves, please be respectful. Bring pen/pencil to sign log.
