CUERDEN VALLEY PARK
Kem Mill Slabs
Part of the Cuerden Valley Park geocaching trail. Enjoy.
Close by the site of Kem Mill, which was formerly a dyeing and printing works for cloth produced in nearby weaving mills. The site is now derelict, but secure - although it's better not to climb on the remains, as they really are of architectural significance as information panels explain.
Take care retrieving and replacing the cache not to scratch yourself on hawthorn branches.
If you park at Lower Kem Mill Car park (free parking) you can also visit GC1Z1P6, GC1Z1NP and GC1QTTZ, and then, if you have the stamina continue all through the park to pick up more caches in the central part of the park.
Contrary to popular belief, Cuerden Valley Park is not owned by either Chorley Borough Council or the Wildlife Trust, but by a charitable trust, independent of all other organisations.
Please ensure that the cache is properly concealed when you leave it. This has been destroyed twice before.
