Geocache Description:

This cache is set as part of the Essex Country Parks/Trailnet - Heritage Lottery Funded Geocaching project.

The coordinates listed are not for the cache but for location of the Ice House where you must answer two questions............

The Ice House

Ice houses originally invented in Persia where buildings used to store ice throughout the year, prior to the invention of the refrigerator. Ice houses were common in grand houses; they were usually built close to lakes and ponds, so that in the depths of winter ice could be cut from the lake and stored for use during the summer months.
Inside there is a conical chamber with a drain at the bottom. Ice was packed with straw or sawdust to give extra insulation. It would remain frozen for many months, often until the following winter, and could be used as a source of ice during summer months

To find the final location you must answer the following questions.........

Q1. What year do we know the Danbury Ice House was in existence?

A1. E, D, A, C

Q2. During recent renovation work how much debris was removed form the chamber?

A2. A B

North 51 4A. D-2CB
