Geocache Description:


Everyone is welcome to attend the WSRPD 2010 Caching Event on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The event will begin at the West Side Recreation & Park District Assembly Room, 500 Cascade Place in Taft, CA (93268). Check-in/registration time is 8:00 a.m. with the event beginning at 9:00 a.m. sharp.Event fees: Caching Event & lunch (pizza and drinks) - $10 per person Caching Event only/no lunch - $5 per person (fees are for ages 6 and older - children 5 and under are free) Event fees will be used to cover Event expenses - caching containers, event prizes and lunch/drinks. Caching Event will consist of 20 new, unpublished randomly placed caches in the Taft area. Participants will have a maximum of 3 hours to find as many caches as possible. A secret code word will be assigned to all caches. In addition to signing the cache log, you will need to record the code word for each cache on the provided tournament spreadsheet. The winner is the person/group who finds the most caches/code words in the shortest time. Additional rules and regulations will be provided upon registration. The event will finish-up with a pizza lunch, award ceremony and 2010 WSRPD TB Mileage Race registration. In conjunction with the Caching Event is registration for the 2010 WSRPD TB Mileage Race. The Race will begin May 1, 2010 and continue through May 1, 2011. The fee to enter the TB Mileage Race is $5 (cost of travel tag). You will need to provide your own travel bug – we will attach the tag. Your TB can wander aimlessly, or you can set a goal – it's up to you, just let us know what you would like to do.

Race Rules:

1. You cannot move your own TB.
2. You cannot move the TB of anyone else in the race.
3. This race is for fun - we encourage you to allow random cachers to move your TB along the way. Please refrain from asking caching friends/family with assistance in moving your TB.
4. WSRPD will start the race in a random, undisclosed cache on Saturday, May 1, 2010. All TB registered in the race will be placed in the same cache to start.

Mileage:

1. You receive 1 mile for every mile your TB moves.
2. Bonus miles will be awarded for the following:
a. 100 miles per photo taken/posted with TB
b. 100 miles per state visited
c. 500 miles if your TB reaches its designated travel goal
d. 1,000 miles per country visited
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. There will also be an award for the least miles traveled. Prizes will be awarded after May 1, 2011 at a future Caching Event or Meet & Greet event in the Taft area.
