A nice climb to a nice view - then you might as well keep going! It is just under a mile to the cache site so be forewarned.
We have hidden a couple of caches on the lower part of this trail and wondered what was on up the hill. Now we know. It was some good exercise, some really nice views up the river and across Catherine Creek and some awesome rock formations further up the hill. This cache is about a mile up the hill from the trailhead. Make sure you don't cross the creek and stay on the west side. There is a nice meadow at the cache site where you can stop for break. Just make sure you take your trash with you. The cache is a small/medium lock and lock with some nice goodies and an unactivated geocoin for FTF. You can continue on up the hill for more adventures. You will go past some neat rock formations and after a while you will leave the oak trees and head in to the forest. Follow the trail up around to the left and when you come out of the woods I am sure you will enjoy the view. There are 5 caches you can grab on the way down the hill.
The round trip from the trailhead and back again is about 4 1/2 miles. The caches in the loop from start to finish are GC1HA2G, GC1HCBC, GC23V0E, GC23V0W, GC838, GC23V1C, GC23V1H, and GC1GQFY.
