One of a series of caches at mile intervals along the Ouse Valley Way.
The River Great Ouse flows from its source near Brackley to the sea at King's Lynn, running through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Work is in progress on the Ouse Valley Way to open a network of footpaths along this magnificent river from 'source to sea' - making this route one of the longest river valley walks in Britain. The first section of the Ouse Valley Way walk opened in 1990 in the district of Huntingdonshire, and the whole route was formally opened in May 2004.
Mile Marker # 90 is one of a series of caches along this official Long Distance Footpath. The idea is to encourage more people to explore the walking equivalent of motorways, "speeding" the walker from start to finish (in this case from Syresham near Brackley to Kings Lynn). However, the entire walk can be broken down into day walks using public transport. The terrain is too rutted for wheelchairs but possibly viable for a crosscountry buggy in dry weather.
This series was started by, and is being managed by The Red Duke. The plan is to expand it to cover the whole 150 miles. At the last count there were 36 caches in place. If you could add to this please contact The Red Duke via Geocaching.com so he can co-ordinate things.
If you are walking the whole route please let us know in your log message.
Mile Marker # 90 is a well camouflaged "film can", containing a logbook. It can be reached by a pleasant walk from either St Ives or the pretty village of Houghton and is wheelchair accessible except for the last metre.
Please use extreme stealth as this route has many people on it and the caches here tend to be stolen or vandalised. The good clue should make it a quick find. Probably not a good idea to place valuable geocoins here.
