Geocache Description:

Located in the back of Minto Island. Located just off a trail that can be quite muddy at times, area could even be flooded following a big rainstorm. Almost a 2 mile walk on fairly level ground from the closest parking lot tho you can park a bit closer along the road. Some brambles in area, not sure about any poison oak or such.

I moved to Salem back in 1977 and "discovered" Minto-Brown Island Park within the first month. I can't begin to guess how many times I've been down there or how many miles I have accumulated down there between jogging, walking, and biking over the years. Truly a gem of a city park, you can almost get lost in it's expanses if you let your mind wander. I've seen coyotes, fox, deer, osprey, eagles, assorted waterfowl, owls, many other birds. Truly one of Salem's best natural areas, hence the name of the cache. It's a bit of a walk from the nearest parking area (nearly 2 miles) but there are other caches in the area so it's a worthwhile hike and very enjoyable to be out there. The cache is a modest-sized plastic container covered with camo tape. The original contents include 4 TBs that are eager to be moved, a Pez dispenser, a dreamcatcher, a pack of Glowsticks, a shell necklace, and 2 agates found on the coast
