Geocache Description:

The USS Ohio, SSGN-726, was the lead ship of a new class of nuclear powered fleet ballistic missile submarines, or “boomers.” Originally commissioned with the hull designation of SSBN-726, the Ohio was converted to a guided missile submarine beginning in 2002, and re-designated SSGN-726 upon completion in 2006.

Her keel was laid on 10 April 1976 she was launched on 7 April 1979. After sea trials in during the summer of 1981, Ohio was commissioned on 11 November of that year and began her service under the commands of Captain Thompson (“Blue crew”) and Captain Campbell (“Gold crew”). This two crew system allows for extended patrols of around 100 days each.

As a “boomer,” Ohio carried the Trident II SLBM’s, or submarine launched ballistic missiles. These boomers formed one component of the “nuclear triad.” The other two components are land based missiles and strategic bombers. After conversion, the Ohio carries the Tomahawk missile in place of ballistic missiles.

You are looking for a small camouflaged lock and lock. There is room for SMALL items like path tags, but you will need something to write with.

There may be muggles about, so try to be as stealthy as the Ohio and avoid detection.

Original contents include two Lefty Writer tags and a smashed Space Center Houston souvenir penny.

Have fun, be safe, and happy caching!
