Geocache Description:


This cache marks the former location of the Colfax Quonset Huts, where Mr. AC lived for a time as a child in the early 1970's. They were originally built in the 1950's as army barracks, and we're not sure what their history is other than that they were home to all manner of free spirits over the years. Most of the huts were torn down somewhere around 2000 and only two of the buildings remain. We stop here often on our way to and from Lake Tahoe to remember Mr. AC's early years and speculate as to their origin, and wonder what their story might be.

You don't have to climb any fences or trespass to find the cache...it's a camoed vitamin bottle with a log and a few small trinkets inside. Bring Your Own Pen. GPS is a little sketchy here with the trees so we averaged a bunch of readings to get the coordinates.
